Animal Kingdom’s 15th Anniversary

Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s 15th anniversary takes place on Monday, April 22nd and The DIS will be covering the morning’s events live from within the park! Here is the schedule and special offerings for the day:

  • Josh D’Amaro, Vice President of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Jackie Ogden, Ph.D., Vice President, Animals, Science and Environment, will speak at a 8:40 am ceremony at the Tree of Life.
  • A commemorative guide map and keepsake postcard are available that will also list the Party for the Planet events.
  • Guests who donate to the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund will receive a commemorative 15th anniversary button.
  • Special children’s activities: Learn to track animals by following clues in Africa. In Asia, learn about how to “go green” and how your choices affect nature. At Rafiki’s Planet Watch, learn how to spend time in nature as a family and speak with cast members about global conservation projects. Take part in activities revolving around Disneynature film.
  • Guest artists, plant specialists, face painting, 15th anniversary merchandise and Earth Day cupcakes are just a few of the other surprises planned for the day.

    We were there at 9:00 a.m. and saw nothing. Very disappointed. I guess you had to be somebody in order to get in earlier when things were going on.

      Nope, the park opened to all guests at around 8:30am. We began waiting at the turnstiles at 7:30 so we could be there for a good spot. The opening ceremony took place at 8:40am.

    We also were waiting at 7:30 am and were right in front for the festivities! It was awesome!
