Warm summer sands, brightly colored clothing, fruity drinks with those cute paper umbrellas, and…Dooneys! That’s right, this summer Disney Design Group will release a new line of Dooney & Bourke bags to fans in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. After a long hiatus since the last release, the new bags will be available in a variety of styles and two new patterns. Let’s take a look.

Unveiled during this past weekend’s Monstrous Summer press event, the new Dooney and Bourke collection will focus on the icon of Disney Parks: Mr. Mickey Mouse himself. The first pattern is a nostalgic black and white print called “Mickey Mouse Comics.” The vintage 1930s comic strip art is a hodgepodge of scenes featuring Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto during their early days. The bags are available in three styles: the satchel, North/South Zipper Sac, and letter carrier which all feature golden hardware and black leather trim.

Although there is no word yet as to whether or not a wallet or other styles will be available in this print, it is important to note that this collection is similar to one released in Japan early in the year. Those particular bags featured the same print, but with a beige trim and in larger styles like the classic tote and barrel bag. Wallet sizes were also available which leads me to believe that you will find them in this American version.

In addition to the comics, Dooney fans can sport their love for the famous mouse with a bolder print which will also be available this summer. Set on a black background and spelling out “M-I-C-K-E-Y” and his love, Minnie, in brightly colored letters, this pattern is sure to be a hit. I love how it incorporates a fun font and the Mickey head icon see throughout the parks.

All in all, I am very excited to see Disney Design Group release a new Dooney & Bourke collection. With the popularity of patterns released previously like Buttons or the original Sketch, this is sure to be a winner among fans. Surprisingly enough, Disney has already allowed fans to buy bags from the comics collection online; however, the above Mickey text pattern will not be sold until it premieres in the parks. What do you think of the two new prints? Which is your favorite? Post here and let us know your thoughts!
