Videos of Hyperspace Hoopla and the Legends of the Force parade
It’s that time of year that Star Wars fans look forward to all year long. Star Wars Weekends come to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Judging by the crowds today it has become even more popular than previous years.
Star Wars Weekends are May 17-19, 24-26, 31 – June 2, 7-9, 2013. This is another one of those times that you need to pack your patience, bring your sunscreen, and drink lots of water. You can view lots of great information on the Weekends here.
It was a very hot day in the park today and seemed even hotter with all the crowds.
If you have gone in years past you will notice this year that the Stormtroopers are not patrolling on top of the turnstiles this year. Instead they are on these motorized platforms. They will also appear this way in the daily parade.
Be sure to pick up a special Star Wars park map as you enter. It will have the times and location where all the special events are being held. There is also a QR code on the front that you can scan with your smart phone that will take you to a website with even more information. If you don’t have a QR scanner on your smart phone I would suggest downloading one before you arrive.
If you are interested in getting autographs be aware that Disney requires a special Fastpass ticket. They are extremely limited so you will see people camping out before the park opens. There will be different lines for the celebrities. While you are in the line you will receive a wristband. This entitles you to a fastpass ticket. You will need to be wearing your wristband to get your autograph. It will have a designated time on it. You should head to the Echo Lake area with your fastpass. You will give them your fastpass when you are in line. I would recommend advance research before coming to the parks so you don’t waste any time waiting in the wrong lines or missing your fastpass time.
There are plenty of opportunities to get your picture taken with the Star Wars characters and the Disney characters in their special Star Wars outfits. The locations are marked on the map but be aware that the characters do take breaks so you may be waiting in line and the character may change.
You will also see characters just strolling around. They were stopping for photos.
If you are just looking for photos of the characters I suggest heading over to this gate by the Backlot Tour. I got to see many characters come out here as they were heading to their meet and greet locations.
The “Legends of the Force” parade at 11:00 AM is very popular so you want to get a good parade spot early. The characters do go around to the American Idol Experience but the celebrities only go to the stage. They do show the parade on the big screen outside the American Idol if you don’t have a good spot.
My favorite event of the day is Hyperspace Hoopla! It is a special treat watching the Star Wars characters dancing to popular music. It isn’t something you see often in a Disney park. There is a link at the top of the blog where you can watch the parade and Hyperspace Hoopla!
What is your favorite part of Star Wars Weekends? I can’t wait to go back and enjoy it several more times.
