I went over yesterday to view the beautiful Third Annual Easter Egg Display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Walt Disney World. The display is located in the Main Lobby near the front entrance and the eggs will be on display through April 22, 2014.
Executive Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek and his team have been creating these beautiful eggs for 18 years for displays in the Grand Floridian Restaurants, but this is only the third year the public could enjoy these creations. This year, 19 very talented and creative Cast Members spent three weeks creating these one-of-a-kind eggs.
The eggs are decorated with edible items such as fondant, royal icing, colored cocoa butter, sculpted sugar pieces, and modeling chocolate. The chocolate eggs stand 16-20 inches tall and they can weigh between 9-12 pounds.
If you get the chance to see the display, just remember a little photography etiquette goes a long way. Don’t step in front of someone as they are taking pictures. Also, it is a two-sided display so just pay attention to people on the other side unless you don’t mind photobombing their pictures.
If you would like to enjoy the eggs from the first and second years, you can visit my previous blogs. If you are visiting Walt Disney World this April, here are some other Easter activities and special dining menus that are available.
Since there are so many details in each egg, take a little time to appreciate each one before you move on. Which one is your favorite? See you in the parks!
