VIDEO: Disney reveals first look at animatronics and scenes inside Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Over the past several months, Disney has slowly been releasing sneak peeks of its upcoming Magic Kingdom attraction, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (more here and here). However, today is the first time we’ve seen the advanced new animatronic characters that will be part of the interior of the ride. In a short video released at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration at Disneyland Resort and later on the Disney Parks Blog, Walt Disney Imagineering reveal some of the scenes from the new attraction, and briefly show off some of the technology that goes into the characters.

The ride will display iconic scenes from Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, with the dwarfs being brought to life in some of the “most advanced Audio-Animatronics figures Walt Disney Imagineering has ever created.” The animatronics will feature projected facial animations as well as smooth, life-like movements. The video shows the characters dancing and working, as well as whistling and singing along to the music that will accompany the swinging mine car ride vehicles of the attraction.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the final piece to the multi-year New Fantasyland expansion in Magic Kingdom park and is set to be complete sometime this Spring. Disney has not announced any dates yet, but it is rumored to open in early May.

These are cool but I kind of want to see them in person. Something about them, at least in the video, seems a bit off. It’s like the projection faces don’t look like they blend just right with the physical bodies? I’m sure they will look way better when the ride opens!

This is going to be such a fun and special attraction! It truly does remind me of the classic film, as well.

I am planning to be in Disney in the middle of May. Is there anyway I can be alerted when this opens so I could fast pass it while I am there?
