‘Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It!’ Street Party debuts at Magic Kingdom

It was the perfect day for the debut of the new parade, ‘Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Street Party’ today in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The new parade uses the floats from the previous parade, ‘Move It!, Shake It!, Celebrate It!’  The parade route starts down by the Fire Station on Main Street U.S.A and proceeds up to the hub area in front of Cinderella Castle. The new theme song is “Party Up!”

My favorite spot for watching this parade used to be at the top of Main Street on the right before the hub area. I will be changing my location with this parade. For the last number they allow guests that have been waiting to now stand in the street blocking the view for those that have been standing there for the entire parade.

They are reusing the gift box floats but the characters now pop up from inside the boxes. The party hosts are Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy.  Stitch, Phineas and Ferb, and Woody are a few of the characters on the floats.

There is new music but I didn’t find it as catchy as the previous parade.  Maybe it will take some time for this music to grow on me.  There are now video screens on the sides of the floats. I loved the previous version of the parade. I love the fact that parade gets the guests involved.  Just be aware of where you are walking and don’t get too close to the floats.

They encourage you to take selfies while you are enjoying the parade and share them on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag#MoveItShakeItPics. You may see your photo displayed on the screen in the finale song.

A new part of the parade is Play It!  They give the crowd 3 choices for the next song.  The song with the loudest applause wins and that is the next song played. When the parade is over they proceed back down Main Street, U.S. A.

If you see this parade tell me what you think in the comments below. See you in the parks!

I was in Magic Kingdom yesterday 10/29/14, I saw ‘Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Street Party’ for the first time since it’s debut this week. I was very very disappointed in what I had seen & heard in both music quality & music choices now being used! Lyrics very hard to discern, not like before, when you could hear the lyrics & quickly learn the song! Also what’s with so many empty spaces on the floats.<—MAKES DISNEY LOOK CHEAP! Obviously they choose to not care any longer about "CHARACTER APPEAL" It has lost it's "MUSICAL POWER & PUNCH" not FORGETTING to mention it's "UMPH!!!" There was nothing in their THEME SONG to quickly grab hold of, nothing to connect with! The whole thing was like trying to fool the chef in telling him/her that your cake was homemade from scratch, while actually using store bought icing & cake mix! You can't fool the Chef! You can't fool the "PARK GUESTS" either, by thinking they will get used to it! I have been coming to Magic Kingdom for 37 years now, this is the "WORST & CHEAP DISPLAY OF MUSICAL & CHARACTER ENTERTAINMENT" that I have ever seen & heard! Do not think that we will just have to like it, I hope others will be BRAVE ENOUGH to say "Hey Disney Entertainment… Who are you trying to fool?" You need to change the entire music line, then step up the beat!! All I can say is… You have tried fixing something that was never broken in the first place!! End of Story!

I hope I am not to late to share my opinion. I ran into Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Street Party by accident in november of 2014. My son was almost 2yo and it was so fun for him! The character interection was great!! He danced with Stitch, Chip and Dale, Genie. For us, it felt intimate and spontaneous
