Disney & Starbucks Bring New Mug Collection to Stores

| January 19, 2015 | 61 Replies

It’s difficult to believe that the very first East Coast Disney Park Starbucks location opened a few years ago in the Magic Kingdom. Despite the controversy surrounding its replacing the Main Street Bakery, guests have welcomed the cafe as noted by busy crowds at all hours of the day. Now, Disney and Starbucks are launching a new line of mugs to celebrate the additions of locations throughout both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Starbucks Mugs 6 (600x400)

The new mugs will be the latest additions to the “You are Here” collection that celebrates traveling around the globe…and visiting Starbucks cafes along the way. The line began a few years back and now includes mugs for such locations as Washington, D.C., Calgary, San Diego, New Orleans, Toronto, and more. There’s even one for Pike Place Market where the original Starbucks opened in 1971. Patrons have enjoyed collecting them and some even have dedicated websites showing off their collections.

The Disney additions to the collection will include one ceramic mug for each park including those in California. Mugs are only able to be purchased in their respective park and feature icons from it (notice the lack of the Sorcerer’s Hat in the mug for Disney’s Hollywood Studios). If you want to grab the Epcot one, for instance, head that way. Those looking for one at Walt’s original park, need to visit Disneyland. I love the soft colors and designs; these will definitely be fun to collect.

In addition to the mug series, guests will also find two large tumblers. One is meant for iced beverages while the other is for those that are hot. You can find the same ones in your local cafe, but these are branded with the Disney Parks logo complete with Mickey confetti.

The mugs and tumblers will be sold at the following locations beginning later this month:

  • Market House – Disneyland
  • Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café – Disney California Adventure
  • Main Street Bakery – Magic Kingdom
  • Fountain View – Epcot
  • TBA – Disney’s Hollywood Studios & Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Note that there will be a limit of five purchasable items per visit.

UPDATE: The mugs and tumblers are out in stores as of 1/20/15.

UPDATE #2: All Epcot versions of the mugs have been pulled off of the shelves as of 1/28/15. This version features a monorail with a purple stripe – the same monorail that was involved in a fatal crash in 2009. A new version of the mug will be designed and sold in the future.

Can these be purchased by the web or phone? Or are they starbucks items so the usual way to buy disney merchandise wont work?

    • Nicole L. Mancini

They will only be available for purchase at that particular Starbucks location (i.e. Fountain View at Epcot, etc.).

  • Thomas

Image credit should also go to Orlando Theme Park News, the site that actually posted these photos.

    • Nicole L. Mancini

These photos are from Starbucks and Disney.

      • Thomas

Yes, but were not released publicly, so the source is still also Orlando Theme Park News. It’s easy to just copy and paste the information and call it a day without even mentioning who broke the news.

        • Al

I wouldn’t jump to accusations. Disney knows they have multiple news soursesand if there is one blog feeding people info who got the scoop, then others probably got passed the scoop, too.

          • Thomas

Believe me, I know it didn’t go that way. I won’t make it a bigger deal that it is, though. I just wish ALL websites would follow the proper procedures when giving credit. Yes, sometimes we might overlook things, but when we are aware of a problem we should try to fix it right away. The DIS seems to be ignoring it. Oh, well…

  • SMM

    None for Disney Springs? :(

  • Lisa Castillo

    Yay, finally!

  • The West Coast Guy

Wasn’t Disney California Adventure the first Disney Park to feature a Starbucks?

    • Nicole L. Mancini

It was on the West Coast.

  • lifebybethany

How much will they sell for?

    • Nicole L. Mancini

No word on pricing yet, but, if I am remembering correctly, You Are Here mugs for other locations cost about $20. I’m assuming it’ll be within this price range.

      • Alex

Ceramic Mug is 14.99, Plastic Tumbler is 19.99. Hot Travel Mug available next month… Bought mine this morning.

          Thank you! :)

  • Lisa

    Where are they made? China?

  • http://www.squeakretsquirrel.blogspot.com/ SY21

Prices please! :) Definitely need to budget for some of these when we go to WDW.

    • Nicole L. Mancini

No word on pricing yet, but, if I am remembering correctly, You Are Here mugs for other locations cost about $20. I’m assuming they will cost around the same amount, if not a few dollars more within the parks.

      • http://www.squeakretsquirrel.blogspot.com/ SY21

        Thank you Nicole! :)

        • yankeesusa

Just remember you may get a discount with annual pass. It depends if they have added starbucks to the the benefits or not.

          • http://www.squeakretsquirrel.blogspot.com/ SY21

Unfortunately I’m not lucky enough to have an AP (I live in England), but thank you for the info! Maybe I’ll make an AP holder friend before October, haha!

          • yankeesusa

I understand. Maybe before you arrive at disney their will be a deal on a gift card from starbucks on a site like groupon and you can buy it and use that.

  • Tony

Apologies if this was already asked and answered, when will they be available for purchase? We’re going to Disney this weekend!

    • Hmorgan13

      It says later this month.

  • Lara

I can see myself going broke buying these on ebay already…..

  • Nora Martinez

I love these! They have sort of a retro vibe.

  • Jo

Will you be able to use Starbucks and/or Disney gift cards to purchase these?

    • Nicole L. Mancini

      Yes to both!

  • Corey

Why is the Sorcerer’s Hat missing, am I missing something? Also, I am going to Disneyland in September, will these still be available or are they a limited time thing?

    • stacy

because the hat is going down!

    • Disneytourist

The hat is currently under construction at DHS to be removed. Lots of changes happening at DHS.

      • Corey

Really?!?!? Wow, I must have missed the memo on that one. I’ll assume I can find more info about what’s happening on wdwinfo, right?

    • Anna

The Sorcerer’s Hat is being taken down this month. Probably the reason they left it off.

  • Michelle

How many ounces does each mug hold? They look kind of small.

    • Disneytourist

i don’t know how many, but they are not small. I have one. The hold a generous amount. You won’t be disappointed.

    • Angie DePompa

I just purchased some mugs from the YAH collection a few days ago. If they are the same size as the new Disney ones coming out, they hold 14 oz.

    • Nicole L. Mancini

      14 ounces is correct!

      • Michelle

        Thanks!

  • Kimmy

Will these be available by Sunday the 25th? Heading to Disneyland for only that day before going back home to Illinois. I must have one of these. :) Thank you!

    • Nicole L. Mancini

I would assume so, but sometimes DL gets merchandise like this a little be later than WDW. Good luck!

      • Kimmy

        Thank you! :)

  • Lacey

    I want these!

  • Jessi

By chance, anyone know how much these will be and how long they’ll be available for?

    • Nicole L. Mancini

They are going to be around $20 and available indefinitely although I would expect them to sell out for the first few months.

  • TJ

Are these dishwasher safe? I bought a Stitch mug from WDW and the design melted when I put it in the dishwasher.

    • Nicole L. Mancini

Yes, they are both microwave and dishwasher safe.

  • K Robinson

Is this a limited release or will they the mugs etc be available indefinitely?

    • Nicole L. Mancini

It’s my understanding that they will be regularly sold items. However, I imagine that they will be difficult to get during the first few months of release.

  • Kat

Do disney Visa card holders, D23 members, or cast member discounts apply to these in the parks?

    • Nicole L. Mancini

I am not sure about cast member discounts; one would have to check the hub for that. The other discounts will not apply.

    • Tom

      Annual Passholders get 10%
      Cast members get their discount

  • amelia

Is there a way to buy these online?

    • Nicole L. Mancini

Unfortunately, they will only be available in the dedicated park Starbucks cafes.

  • Karen

Anyone know where these are being sold at Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios yet? I’m going in a couple weeks and would love to get the full set from Disney World.

    • Anonymous

They are only sold in the Starbucks in the parks, and unfortunately those two parks don’t have their Starbucks yet.

  • Cat

are they made in the USA?

    • Tom

      No…..Thailand

  • Smickulas

Saw the ones in Magic kingdom today and the tumblers are $19.95 plus tax… And they only had the cold beverage ones… The lady told me the hot tumbler wasn’t going to be sold until February…

  • Smickulas

Cast discount also works on them…

  • Carlie

Does anyone know if the new Epcot you are here mug is out yet?

    • bbbird321

      Came out yesterday!
