Upcoming Dooney & Bourke Releases at Walt Disney World

| February 10, 2015 | 6 Replies

Just in time to blow away those “winter blues,” Dooney & Bourke and Disney Merchandise have announced details of two new patterns that will be featured on bags starting this February and March. I’ve been a bit underwhelmed with the most recent releases, but these are quite fun. In keeping with the spirit of the upcoming Princess Half Marathon, one will focus on our favorite females from kingdoms galore while the other will celebrate enjoying the sights of spring. Keep reading to find out more about these great new additions to the Disney Dooney line.

New Dooneys 1 (352x346)

One of the biggest issues I have had with Disney’s Dooney & Bourke releases lately is that most of them coincide with a marathon event. While I understand that runDisney events are extremely popular, it can be disappointing for those eager to see new patterns and discover that they are themed to the races (i.e.  images of Mickey and Goofy running along a path in sneakers). Luckily for us, Disney Design Group’s newest prints do not. The first is a beautiful pink and purple print that highlights some of our favorite princesses. You’ll find everyone from Cinderella and Snow White to Aurora and Rapunzel.

Even though this bag is being released during the Princess Half Marathon Weekend, February 19-22, non-runners need not worry. Select bags purchased at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex will have the specially designed marathon tags. There will be bags without these tags available as well. I imagine you will see them in the shops and online in the future just like the pattern below from the Tinker Bell Half Marathon release last January.

New Dooneys 10 (470x470)

The second upcoming Disney Dooney pattern will hit the shelves in March for Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival. I love, love, love this print! It is simple, yet sophisticated. Featuring the silhouettes of Mickey, Minnie, and Donald, this black and white pattern would be perfect during the daytime or at night. As a result, I can imagine it being very popular amongst those looking for a new bag that doesn’t “scream” Disney.

New Dooneys 5 (550x550)

Similar to the marathon bags, select bags will feature a specially designed Flower & Garden Festival hangtag. In terms of availability, however, there are no plans to release this pattern in either Disneyland or online. As of right now, it will only be available at this year’s event inside the Festival Center near Mission: SPACE and Universe of Energy. Word on the street is that a new Vera Bradley print will also be available there; I’ll keep you posted once I have confirmed information.

All in all, these are two great new patterns for those who enjoy Disney’s Dooney & Bourke line. I can’t wait to add them to my collection and hope that you have fun doing so too. Happy shopping!

I disagree with your reasoning here, the marathon bags are not a new line or pattern that they will restock for purchase and they are not a new parks release. They are a memento for those accomplishing races, just like the “I did it!” shirts. Hence, the tags and why they are only sold at the race expo. So, I see no reason to be disappointed that they are themed to races. That is their entire purpose!

As mentioned in the article, certain marathon release bags are sold elsewhere without the race handtag. The Tink pattern, for example, was originally for the Tinker Bell 1/2 Marathon, but is also available without the tag; the new princess one will follow suit. Patterns that depict Disney characters running though (there was a white one released not to long ago) are only sold at the race event. My disappointment was when designs like this dominated what was being produced and those who do not participate are still waiting for new patterns.

I love the new bags! I’m usually more of Mickey person than Princesses but that bag does a nice job at being classy and pretty, but not juvenile. The Tinker Bell is sweet as well! Thanks for posting the pictures! I had read these were coming out but to see them is always exciting!

Ditto, Renee. After 13.1 miles…or more if you do the other races…runners EARN the right to the exclusive purses. Personally, I think they should be limited to runners only. They are often sold out by Saturday before the race by people who grab handfuls for resell, and legit runners who fly in Saturday find they can’t get one. Get with it Disney.

Can anyone CONFIRM that these bags will be sold again at a later date? They have been completely WIPED out within the first few hours yesterday and really wanted the chance to buy one (without the $100+ markups on ebay and such right now) I know they were released as a limited and event-specific edition, but would LOVE to have the peace of mind that they will be available again in the future. Glad to know they did that with Tink but I don’t know how often Disney does that. Any thoughts, opinions, or info about what to expect would be appreciated!

Does anyone have a large Erica or pocket/zipper sac in the sketch or Retro pattern to sell? I am new at discovering these bags, and missed my chance to get one. I only like these styles and patterns. I am sorry to hear that runners can’t get the bags they want. Thanks.
