Welcome to the 2015 7 in 7 series where we will be visiting 7 Walt Disney World resorts in 7 days. We will be sharing our experiences through blogs, photos and videos from our time at these resorts. We will also be publishing a daily video where we talk about our thoughts after visiting each resort. Check back daily to see where we went next.
Day 7: Our last day of this 7 in 7 is at Disney’s Yacht Club. It is the sister resort to the Disney’s Beach Club. This resort is themed to resemble a New England Seaside resort. This resort opened in 1990. There is a covered walkway that connects Disney’s Yacht to Disney’s Beach Club and the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts’ Convention Center. It is also located just a short walk away from Epcot. If you don’t want to walk, you can also take a Friendship Boat to Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This resort is also served by Disney buses.
There are many room categories to choose from; you can reserve a standard, lagoon or pool view, or a garden view room. On the Concierge level you have a choice of a Deluxe room or a number of different size Suites. We had a beautifully decorated spacious room. They seem to be doing away with all the patterns in the room and decorating in a cleaner, simpler style. Some of the rooms do have a day bed. When I was walking around the resort I did see them working on rooms to freshen them up with new furnishings.
This resort shares the main pool Stormalong Bay with the Beach Club Resort. They will check for a MagicBand before allowing you to enter the pool area so don’t forget them. (PS: The MagicBands are waterproof.) This resort also has a great water slide contained in the Shipwreck Pool. There is also a quiet pool in this resort. You hardly ever see anyone here.
There are a number of recreational activities at the Yacht Club. There are Surrey and regular bikes for rent at the Marina. If you would like to go fishing you can sign up for one of several Bass Nitro Fishing Excursions. If you are a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) member they offer a discount on the activities. They also show a movie on the beach nightly. Nothing beats sitting out under the stars watching a movie while on vacation.
If you would like to play Tennis, there is a court here for your use.
The grounds of the resort are beautiful. You may even see a wedding being performed on the beach or in the gazebo.
Looking back on my week doing the 7 in 7 with my teammates, I had a great time! I got to explore and experience new resorts as well as visit old favorites. It just reminds me that Walt Disney World has done a great job to create all these resorts with different themes and experiences. I learned more about my teammates on this trip too. I didn’t realize you could have so many varied opinions about the same place. Till next time, See you in the parks!
