Tea Traders Cafe Opens at Disney Springs

I’ve been a big tea drinker for as long as I can remember. Greens, whites, reds, you name it, and I have it nestled into my kitchen cupboard. When visiting Walt Disney World, sampling new teas is a fun adventure whether it’s at The Wave, Royal Anandapur Tea Company, or The Joy of Tea. With the opening of Joffrey’s new Tea Traders Cafe, tea lovers like me will have an even wider variety to choose from.

Joffrey’s, which is already known for its refreshment kiosks in Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios as well as its Disney Parks line of coffees, opened the doors to Tea Traders Cafe on July 3rd. The cafe is a “modern-meets-old world experience featuring teas from the finest tea gardens around the globe.” There, guests are introduced to the beauty, taste, and ritual of loose leaf tea drinking which is an ancient pastime from across the globe.

A master Tea Smith is available at Tea Traders Cafe to assist those who might be feeling a bit overwhelmed by the choices. The menu goes beyond your standard tea dunked in a mug and includes oolong teas, black teas, herbal blends, pu’erh teas, white teas, green teas, and rooibos (red) teas. The Tea Smith blends a selection of teas multiple times per day which is a treat to watch. There is also a selection of tea lattes that I’m looking forward to trying especially the masala chai.

If you’re looking for a cold beverage, Tea Traders Cafe has frozen teas, lemonades, and iced teas. I’m especially excited to try the frozen matcha tea as it is one of my favorites from the green varieties. In addition, the green blackberry jasmine iced tea sounds like a wonderful way to relax after a busy day at the parks.

Those seeking out a beverage with a bit more zing will enjoy the spirited options including the Orange Spice which is a freshly brewed tea topped with Captain Morgan Spiced Rum or a Grey Goose Vodka spiked Moroccan mint tea. Cold options boast the Joffrey’s Whisky Sour made from a frozen lemonade topped with Jameson Irish Whisky and the Frozen Chai splashed with Bailey’s Irish Cream.

Tea aficionados will also appreciate the tea reserve collection. These are managed by the Tea Smith and known for being of the best quality. At this time, four varieties are available: Bai Hao Silver Needle, Darjeeling First Flush, Golden Monkey Superior, and Oriental Beauty. Again, these are high grade teas, so expect the prices to be a bit above your average cup. With that being said, the health benefits of both the Silver Needle and Golden Monkey are unlike any other.

Tea Traders Cafe is located in The Landing at Disney Springs (Downtown Disney). Be sure to stop by when you’re looking for a break from a busy shopping day or seeking a strong cup to jump start the morning. You can also bring a bag of your favorite blend home. Either way, the Cafe will welcome you with open arms.

My favorite drink at the Tea Trader’s Cafe is the Citrus Sorbet. The slight citrus zing with the Huang Jin Gui base is heaven to my taste buds. It is great for metabolism and digestion too, so after you have gorged at the Exposition Park, you should head straight here for a wonderful Oolong brew.
